IC ANON MEME
![]() RULES AND INFO ✦ Everything must be from an IC in-world perspective. The meme is specifically a Legion fandom meme. UP citizens, Legion World Staff, and Legionnaires all have access to the meme. While this meme is in the meme comm, it is real in the game universe and all the Legionnaires and the public can see ICly it. Rather than other ic anon memes where characters post to the meme, this meme operates like real world memes like rpanons. ✦ There are 3 ways to post. When posting as non-Legionnaires do it anon. When posting as Legionnaires that ✦ Not necessarily a rule, but keep in mind that attitudes in the UP are different than our world. Most people are referred to generally as "people" or "sentients" instead of species-specific terms like "humans." Most racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, and other "ist" attitudes are now uncommon among most species in the UP. Many sexual orientations exist, polyamory and polygamy are considered acceptable, and gender identity is very flexible. Species-based xenophobia tends to be the bigger social ill and even with that, many are against it. The species that are most disliked and distrusted are Durlans, Daxamites, and Roboticans. If you want to use them for fun, common UP cursewords have been added to the Legion Basics page. ✦ Beyond sticking to those basics, don't worry about getting anything "wrong." It's a meme and people tend to say stupid things on memes. You can even make up fake species and planets and details about them. The UP is huge and has lots of planets and species not mentioned in the game info. ✦ You can pretend to write things from the POV of Legion staff sharing the deets on the Legionnaires. However, they wouldn't share tactical info on the Legionnaires that could get them hurt in battle, only juicy gossip. Also, if someone is writing from the POV of Legion staff and writes something about your character that your character doesn't actually do, keep in mind that half the time people make shit up. It'll just be false gossip. ✦ Try to keep anything that can't be put behind a link sfw. While you can write someone sharing the start of their steamy slash fanfic, try to keep it limited to just part of it. Linking to fanart as if it was made in universe is a-okay, but just make sure to put it under a link and warn if it it's nsfw. Please check character ages before posting any nsfw stuff to make sure they're over 18. ✦ Feel free to get really crazy. Fandom gets crazy and fandom is no different in the glorious robot future. There are normal posters, shitposters, trolls, rpf ficcers, stans, slashers, all the same things our time has. There are macros and gifs and ongoing fake memes you can make up. There will be a few preposted topics but you can make up new ones or just have anons create new topics or troll. ✦ The meme is generally modless and has no thread-freezing. Fandom plays it dangerous in the future and the ic mod rarely intervenes, though anons sometimes try to get them to. Anon comments can be deleted by the real mods at the request of players (like say if they made a formatting mistake and want to repost) but there should be no need to delete anything beyond that since it's all IC. |

(Anonymous) 2016-06-17 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)Foxes hunt rabbits and other rodents. Pretty viciously. They jump up in the air and sort of pounce, land on their prey, then bite them in the neck and shake them until they die. I've seen a fox kill a rabbit before. Not pretty. Rabbits actually do this creepy death shriek when they get attacked.
I think that's what op means. They may walk and talk but they evolved from animals that were natural enemies. Predator and prey. Aggressor and victim.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-17 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)This conversation is really uncomfortable in a few places. It's kind of uncomfortably fetishy to play up a dynamic like that. They're both evolved sentients. This sounds dangerously like you're implying Sly Fox is like some kind of predatory person -- which is gross rhetoric that's been used in a lot of forms of bigotry to depict certain peoples or species as "savage" through history. And it infantilizes and makes Sly Bunny out to just be some fragile victim. That fic that got linked even goes some places that play up Sly Bunny as being in a passive role, when everything we've ever heard about her is that she's really assertive, and plays up their their "wildness."
If this is the angle the fandom is starting to take with them, it's really gross. And I say this as someone who ships them. They're both normal civilized sentients and the appeal to me is that they're friends, partners, and equals that apparently banter a lot together. There's nothing dark or predatory or "wild" or whatever about that. The only wild thing in the ship is his last name.
