IC ANON MEME

THE IC ANON MEME

RULES AND INFO

Everything must be from an IC in-world perspective. The meme is specifically a Legion fandom meme. UP citizens, Legion World Staff, and Legionnaires all have access to the meme. While this meme is in the meme comm, it is real in the game universe and all the Legionnaires and the public can see ICly it. Rather than other ic anon memes where characters post to the meme, this meme operates like real world memes like rpanons.

There are 3 ways to post. When posting as non-Legionnaires do it anon. When posting as Legionnaires that unwisely comment unanon, just do it logged in. If posting as Legionnaires going anon, do it logged in, but mark "anon" in the subject, so we know it's anon, but can have a laugh over which Legionnaires are secretly stanning or shitposting.

Not necessarily a rule, but keep in mind that attitudes in the UP are different than our world. Most people are referred to generally as "people" or "sentients" instead of species-specific terms like "humans." Most racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, and other "ist" attitudes are now uncommon among most species in the UP. Many sexual orientations exist, polyamory and polygamy are considered acceptable, and gender identity is very flexible. Species-based xenophobia tends to be the bigger social ill and even with that, many are against it. The species that are most disliked and distrusted are Durlans, Daxamites, and Roboticans. If you want to use them for fun, common UP cursewords have been added to the Legion Basics page.

Beyond sticking to those basics, don't worry about getting anything "wrong." It's a meme and people tend to say stupid things on memes. You can even make up fake species and planets and details about them. The UP is huge and has lots of planets and species not mentioned in the game info.

You can pretend to write things from the POV of Legion staff sharing the deets on the Legionnaires. However, they wouldn't share tactical info on the Legionnaires that could get them hurt in battle, only juicy gossip. Also, if someone is writing from the POV of Legion staff and writes something about your character that your character doesn't actually do, keep in mind that half the time people make shit up. It'll just be false gossip.

Try to keep anything that can't be put behind a link sfw. While you can write someone sharing the start of their steamy slash fanfic, try to keep it limited to just part of it. Linking to fanart as if it was made in universe is a-okay, but just make sure to put it under a link and warn if it it's nsfw. Please check character ages before posting any nsfw stuff to make sure they're over 18.

Feel free to get really crazy. Fandom gets crazy and fandom is no different in the glorious robot future. There are normal posters, shitposters, trolls, rpf ficcers, stans, slashers, all the same things our time has. There are macros and gifs and ongoing fake memes you can make up. There will be a few preposted topics but you can make up new ones or just have anons create new topics or troll.

The meme is generally modless and has no thread-freezing. Fandom plays it dangerous in the future and the ic mod rarely intervenes, though anons sometimes try to get them to. Anon comments can be deleted by the real mods at the request of players (like say if they made a formatting mistake and want to repost) but there should be no need to delete anything beyond that since it's all IC.

dark legion anons, show me the forbidden sly fox/sly bunny.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-17 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
why is it forbidden? it's okay that they're different species.

someone a meme or two ago said in the legion staff gossip thread that they heard them talking about their world and apparently they have some kind of cultural thing where sentients evolved from predators and sentients evolved from prey don't really mingle.

so it'd be like a totally forbidden romance.

It wasn't that they don't mingle. They just said that there were cultural prejudices or divides or something. But yeah, them dating is still probably totally like a forbidden romance.

They're totally into each other. Legion staffers have talked in the gossip threads about how they're basically inseparable. He even steals food off her plate and stuff.

where is the fic though, show me the fic

I just posted a fic on F4u, here's a snippet:

--

"Does it hurt?"

"Nope."

"You're lying. Don't even pretend you're not lying."

"Carrots, it's just a scratch, it's no big deal. It's all disinfected, bandaged, and thoroughly non-hurty, I promise."

"It's just...it's a really big scratch. And it almost hit your eye."

"Almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. We just survived a spaceship crashing; a few bruises and a scratch on the face is nothing."

It really was fortunate that they hadn't been hurt worse. The two Legionnaires had been attacked in space by a hostile alien ship and crashed on a wilderness planet with no functioning comm system, and only some basic supplies. Now that they'd collected themselves after the crash and gathered supplies from the wreckage, Nick sat on a fallen tree while Judy patched him up.

"Maybe I should put another layer of this plastiskin on --"

"It's just going to get caught in my fur and make it matted. I don't think some of these med supplies were made for the furrier among us. Besides, we need to take care of that cut on your arm."

"It's nothing, it's already clotted up."

"Nope, that's now how this works. Preseeeent arm."

Judy rolled her eyes and held out her arm. "You're ridiculous."

"I'm only about as ridiculous as our situation," said Nick, getting to work fixing up her arm.

"Our situation isn't ridiculous. It's bad, Nick. We didn't tell Legion World we were altering our flightpath and this world didn't look civilized from orbit. And we don't know if those space pirates we went after stuck around or flew off."

"Mmm, yeah, I guess those are all things that could maybe be interpreted as 'bad,'" he said, wrapping her arm in a bandage now that he'd disinfected it.

"Maybe? Just 'maybe'?"

"I'm trying to look on the positive side of things."

"Who are you and what have you done with Nick Wilde?"

"We've probably got a long haul ahead of us. I just think it's a better idea than starting this off all defeatist."

Judy gave him a flat stare. "Nick, we're in a place where you won't get omnicom reception and where there is no coffee."

"We're going to die," Nick said flatly.

That actually made Judy laugh despite their situation.

"At least we're both mostly able-bodied and have each other," she finally relented.

"And that 'mostly' will hopefully turn to 'completely' after this heals up. Which it'll do because I actually paid attention during all the first aid classes in basic training and during our Legionnaire lessons."

"I don't know" Judy teased. "That bandaging is a little sloppy."

"You want me to kiss it?" he asked with a raise of a slinky eyebrow. "That'll make sure it gets better."

Judy's face went hot under her fur and she shoved him. "You! Ugh."

The shove almost knocked him off the fallen tree but he just laughed. She hated that laugh. Mostly because she loved it at the same time, just like she loved every sexy raise of his eyebrows. She didn't actually want to shove him away, it was the exact opposite of what her real instinct was.

She wanted to pull him closer and run her hands through his fur.

But she knew that was forbidden. What would he think if she ever tried? What would society think once they were back home? Besides, he was only joking anyway. He'd never cross that line between predator and prey; he probably wasn't even interested in anyone outside his species. He probably even had some on-again off again fox girlfriend back home anyway.

"We really need to keep moving. We shouldn't go too far from the ship, since the distress beacon will bring help here, but I don't like how out in the open we are," Judy said, trying to focus on being practical. "We need to find shelter, and somewhere that's defensible if we get attacked."

"Lead the way," said Nick, gathering up the medkit.

"Why do I have to? I don't know what I'm doing out here either."

"You're the experienced cop, remember? I'm the rookie."

"We've been Legionnaires the same amount of time."

"And if I recall, it was your idea. I'm just following along now like I did then. Besides, you can use your, I don't know, farmers' natural instincts to lead us or something. "

"Farmer's natural instincts?" she scoffed.

"I'm a city boy. You're a country girl. You know, salt of the earth, one of those people who grew up among nature's many miracles and so on."

Judy rolled her eyes again, picking up their food rations and water filter supplies with ease with her superstrength. "Just try to keep up."

"Don't I always?" he said with a smirk.

--

They have to face space pirates, wild animals, the elements, and conditions that make it so their clothes rip up so they have to make skimpy ones from nature to replace them. It's definitely slow burn but things start to really pick up in chapter 6. They have to take shelter from a storm and make a love nest in a cave and that's where things really get steamy.

Here's a link!

I put in a lot of research on the period terms and idioms and everything. And used someone I know who works at Legion World and has been around them a lot as a beta. I hope it comes across.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-17 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Why do they wear clothes, anyway?

Humanoid species started wearing clothing to protect them from the elements, same as some of our less humanoid counterparts evolved fur or scales to do. They only wear clothes because galactic society tends to be rather humanoid-centric and less considerate of the furrier needs.

I don't think it really counts as dark. I'd call it cute if being called cute wasn't an issue with them.

It's dark because he's a humanoid fox and she's a humanoid bunny. I'm an Earther. We still have some foxes in the wild where I live. Very few but some.

Foxes hunt rabbits and other rodents. Pretty viciously. They jump up in the air and sort of pounce, land on their prey, then bite them in the neck and shake them until they die. I've seen a fox kill a rabbit before. Not pretty. Rabbits actually do this creepy death shriek when they get attacked.

I think that's what op means. They may walk and talk but they evolved from animals that were natural enemies. Predator and prey. Aggressor and victim.

Anon, there are a lot of species that evolved from species that were natural enemies. Reptilian Orandans used to hunt mammalian Orandans. Blue Voraspians used to hunt Reds. They're all perfectly civilized peoples now.

This conversation is really uncomfortable in a few places. It's kind of uncomfortably fetishy to play up a dynamic like that. They're both evolved sentients. This sounds dangerously like you're implying Sly Fox is like some kind of predatory person -- which is gross rhetoric that's been used in a lot of forms of bigotry to depict certain peoples or species as "savage" through history. And it infantilizes and makes Sly Bunny out to just be some fragile victim. That fic that got linked even goes some places that play up Sly Bunny as being in a passive role, when everything we've ever heard about her is that she's really assertive, and plays up their their "wildness."

If this is the angle the fandom is starting to take with them, it's really gross. And I say this as someone who ships them. They're both normal civilized sentients and the appeal to me is that they're friends, partners, and equals that apparently banter a lot together. There's nothing dark or predatory or "wild" or whatever about that. The only wild thing in the ship is his last name.

Legion Cafeteria Staff here. Not only is that comparison all sorts of problematic, it's entirely off-base. While some of the new Legionnaires come from times and places where meat-eating was socially acceptable, Fox isn't one of them.

idgas if Bunny's annoyed by the word 'cute' being used, I'm not going to avoid using it to describe folks like Nova and Cure.

I'd say it to her face, too. She can shove any hurt feelings she has right up her nass, I'm not gonna keep from using a perfectly descriptive word.

(Anonymous) 2016-06-17 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think it's for everything I think it's just a slur if it's used to describe her.
