IC Anon Meme

THE IC ANON MEME

RULES AND INFO

Everything must be from an IC in-world perspective. The meme is specifically a Legion fandom meme. UP citizens, Legion World Staff, and Legionnaires all have access to the meme. While this meme is in the meme comm, it is real in the game universe and all the Legionnaires and the public can see it ICly. Rather than other ic anon memes where characters post starters to the meme, this meme operates like real world memes like rpanons.

There are 3 ways to post. When posting as non-Legionnaires, do it anon. When posting as Legionnaires that unwisely comment unanon, just do it logged in. If posting as Legionnaires going anon, do it logged in, but mark "anon" in the subject, so we know it's anon, but can have a laugh over which Legionnaires are secretly stanning or shitposting.

Not necessarily a rule, but keep in mind that attitudes in the UP are different than our world. Most people are referred to generally as "people" or "sentients" instead of species-specific terms like "humans." Most racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, and other "ist" attitudes are now uncommon among most species in the UP. Many sexual orientations exist, polyamory and polygamy are considered acceptable, and gender identity is very flexible. Species-based xenophobia tends to be the bigger social ill and even with that, many are against it. The species that are most disliked and distrusted are Durlans, Daxamites, and Roboticans. If you want to use them for fun, common UP cursewords are on the Legion Basics page.

Beyond sticking to those basics, don't worry about getting anything "wrong." It's a meme and people tend to say stupid things on memes. You can even make up fake species and planets and details about them. The UP is huge and has lots of planets and species not mentioned in the game info.

You can pretend to write things from the POV of Legion staff sharing the deets on the Legionnaires. However, they wouldn't share tactical info on the Legionnaires that could get them hurt in battle, only juicy gossip. Also, if someone is writing from the POV of Legion staff and writes something about your character that your character doesn't actually do, keep in mind that half the time people make shit up. It'll just be false gossip.

Try to keep anything that can't be put behind a link sfw. While you can write someone sharing the start of their steamy slash fanfic, try to keep it limited to just part of it. Linking to fanart as if it was made in universe is a-okay, but just make sure to put it under a link and warn if it it's nsfw. Please check character ages before posting any nsfw stuff to make sure they're over 18.

Feel free to get really crazy. Fandom gets crazy and fandom is no different in the glorious robot future. There are normal posters, shitposters, trolls, rpf ficcers, stans, slashers, all the same things our time has. There are macros and gifs and ongoing fake memes you can make up. There will be a few preposted topics but you can make up new ones or just have anons create new topics or troll.

The meme is generally modless and has no thread-freezing. Fandom plays it dangerous in the future and the ic mod rarely intervenes, though anons sometimes try to get them to. Anon comments can be deleted by the real mods at the request of players (like say if they made a formatting mistake and want to repost) but there should be no need to delete anything beyond that since it's all IC.

This anon meme is set shortly after the events of "Out With the Old" and "Books of Magic." For "Out With the Old," some of the early events were caught on camera, but a few minutes after the teams broke in, video footage got cut, which means the full events weren't visible to the public. You can treat it as the first half of most of the fights were broadcast. For "Books of Magic" none of the magical missions were in public places, but the Legion did release a press release about getting something that could re-capture the Spectre. The discussion of overthrowing the corrupt UP Councilmembers is completely secret, was encrypted to just to active Legionnaires, and even staff doesn't know about it. Said information cannot be leaked or else your character's post will be traced and they'll be booted from the team.

Paperboy's AMA

[Kubo looks a lot more well-rested and a whole lot happier for this AMA than he did for the last. Putting Silent Horizon a bit farther behind one will do that for a kid.]

Hello again! I have a few more stories prepared this time. Ask me anything.

Oh, and if you want to request songs again, I thought that was really fun the first time we did it, so . . . request away!

I don't dislike anyone enough to put it in writing.

And I can't choose between my mother or my father!

[Kubo strikes up a tune and paper flies up to accompany his tale.]

Things don't always work out the first time! Animals and people are easy, because I can usually make those out of one sheet of paper. Things that are made by people, like machines, are hard. Things that have a lot of small parts are hard. When I told my family's tale, I used this glitter to show my mother's magic, but I'd like to find something else to use, because I couldn't keep all the small pieces together and speak the tale at the same time.

I'll try to make a spiderweb now. My father fought a giant spider once, and I've never been able to get the web right to tell the tale of how he escaped its trap.

[He tries now, thin strands of pre-cut paper from somewhere in his bag flying out to twine together. Somehow the web of thin strings never looks quite like a spiderweb. He's getting the pattern just a little off, and they just can't seem to knot together correctly.

He gives up up with a laugh, the paper falling to the ground around him.]

One day I'll think of a way to do it!

I always wanted a brother! [And a father AND an extended family that didn't want to kill him but whatever.] I don't know what you mean by 'legit' adoption, but I like having Justin Time in my family.

the real question is, is justin considered part of the whole family now that they've got both monkey mom and beetle dad here, or is it just monkey mom specifically that's adopted him? i bet it was weird bringing that up during the happy family reunion. like "i missed you so much! btw we have another son now".

If Father decides to do one of these, you should ask him.

[WHATEVER HE ALREADY KNOWS THE ANSWER but surely Beetle would like to talk to the public, too!]

Once we had the chance to reunite and orient ourselves, he was informed.

It was not weird. Why would it be weird to tell him there was another young man that we both cared about that had become our family?

When I think about it . . . Father was kind to me, protected me and taught me even when we didn't know who he was.

Having a new friend to care about is not strange for him. He cared about Mother and me right away.

[BUG DAD IS BEST DAD OKAY]

That's the kind of person he is, even without his memories.

I'm very proud to be his son.

Why'd you pick that name?

Re: Paperboy's AMA

[personal profile] bachido 2017-03-04 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
A friend from home used to call me Paperboy.

[Kubo plays a warm, pleasant little tune, a happy song that would go well with grandmotherly laughter. A blue piece of paper folds into the shape of an elderly woman, her tiny begging bowl full of yellow paper coins. She waves to a red piece of paper, which becomes a little paper boy and runs over to sit beside her.]

I'd like to see her again one day, but I know she's happy back in the village.

[The red paper boy departs the scene, but a white piece of paper snaps into the shape of an elderly man who sits down formally beside the blue woman. Her cheery body language counters the paper man's formality, but both paper figures seem to enjoy each other's company.]

I think she'd be happy I'm here. She'd definitely be happy that I'm remembering her when people call me by this name.

I know stories about both!

[He knew what the anon was actually asking, but answering one or the other would just be way too short and not nearly entertaining enough to justify Kubo sitting there with his storytelling tools all at the ready.

So instead he tells two stories, The Artist of Cats and Hanasaka Jiisan.]

Did that answer your question?

[The answer was both, both are good.]

can you do a dramatization of one of your recent missions for us?

[Kubo didn't respond for a few days and when he does, it looks like it's been hard for him to summon a smile all day.]

Yes!

I started setting up my omnicom to record the stories I tell at the midday meal, so I can share them with more people. Here's one I told earlier today, about Paladin and me on the Silent Horizon.
