RULES AND INFO

✦ Everything must be from an IC in-world perspective. The meme is specifically a Legion fandom meme. UP citizens, Legion World Staff, and Legionnaires all have access to the meme. While this meme is in the meme comm, it is real in the game universe and all the Legionnaires and the public can see it ICly. Rather than other ic anon memes where characters post starters to the meme, this meme operates like real world memes like rpanons.

✦ There are 3 ways to post. When posting as non-Legionnaires, do it anon. When posting as Legionnaires that ~~unwisely~~ comment unanon, just do it logged in. If posting as Legionnaires going anon, do it logged in, but mark "anon" in the subject, so we know it's anon, but can have a laugh over which Legionnaires are secretly stanning or shitposting.

✦ Not necessarily a rule, but keep in mind that attitudes in the UP are different than our world. Most people are referred to generally as "people" or "sentients" instead of species-specific terms like "humans." Most racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, and other "ist" attitudes are now uncommon among most species in the UP. Many sexual orientations exist, polyamory and polygamy are considered acceptable, and gender identity is very flexible. Species-based xenophobia tends to be the bigger social ill and even with that, many are against it. The species that are most disliked and distrusted are Durlans, Daxamites, and Roboticans. ✦ Beyond sticking to those basics, don't worry about getting anything "wrong." It's a meme and people tend to say stupid things on memes. You can even make up fake species and planets and details about them. The UP is huge and has lots of planets and species not mentioned in the game info.

✦ You can pretend to write things from the POV of Legion staff sharing the deets on the Legionnaires. However, they wouldn't share tactical info on the Legionnaires that could get them hurt in battle, only juicy gossip. Also, if someone is writing from the POV of Legion staff and writes something about your character that your character doesn't actually do, keep in mind that half the time people make shit up. It'll just be false gossip.

✦ Try to keep anything that can't be put behind a link sfw. While you can write someone sharing the start of their steamy slash fanfic, try to keep it limited to just part of it. Linking to fanart as if it was made in universe is a-okay, but just make sure to put it under a link and warn if it it's nsfw. Please check character ages before posting any nsfw stuff to make sure they're over 18.

✦ Feel free to get really crazy. Fandom gets crazy and fandom is no different in the glorious robot future. There are normal posters, shitposters, trolls, rpf ficcers, stans, slashers, all the same things our time has. There are macros and gifs and ongoing fake memes you can make up. There will be a few preposted topics but you can make up new ones or just have anons create new topics or troll.

✦ The meme is generally modless and has no thread-freezing. Fandom plays it dangerous in the future and the ic mod rarely intervenes, though anons sometimes try to get them to. Anon comments can be deleted by the real mods at the request of players (like say if they made a formatting mistake and want to repost) but there should be no need to delete anything beyond that since it's all IC.

✦ This anon meme is set shortly after the events of "No Sanity Clause" and "Silent Horizon." Thanks to news drones catching part of the Joker's declaration, and thanks to press conferences by the UP government, several things that happened during "No Sanity Clause" are now public knowledge: the threat of Chronoblivion and that the Legion and UP government kept it secret, that the Joker is in Legion custody and will not be released to Takron Galtos (the prison planet), and that Blue Rose is dead and will be having a funeral soon on Shanghalla. What isn't publicly known: that the Joker said Brainic 5 wasn't guilty of the original Legion disappearing and that Chronoblivion's forces were, and that the Spectre appeared as Blue Rose died and gruesomely killed her murderer, Firefly (though the Carggites that saw him may reveal this anon). As for Silent Horizon, it's publicly known: that the star drive test was a dismal failure and that much of the Silent Horizon crew died, and that the Legion saved the Robotican crew members. However, the full extent of what happened is not publicly known. (That said, people may post as anon Legion World staff spilling the beans on what happened during the mission.)

[It's obviously being piloted by an amateur, but the picture quality isn't grainy. It's crystal clear, as expected of the future. The camera speeds up suddenly, as it's fastforwarded by an hour or so until it runs across a man walking in the woods. Just casually strolling, unremarkable.

As the drone continues on, it pauses. Off in the distance, half a mile if the rangefinder on the camera is accurate, a haggard man is running full-tilt through the woods. At night. The camera zooms in, catching his terror-filled face as he crashes full-tilt through the forest, only to skid to a halt as a pillar of green smoke appears before him, condensing until, in the center of it all, stands a man in a green cloak, pale as death.]

Londaar Shran. [Even at this distance, the voice is clear.] The man with the iron will. Umbreakable. The little people break on you, is that right?

[The man is on his hands and knees, hands clasped in front of him. His babbling is nearly incoherent.]

Not so big now. [The Spectre looms, green smoke swirling around him. His cloak billows, but there's no wind.] Your victims feed your trees. Men, women, innocent blood hidden where no one will ever think to look for them. [The Spectre waves his hand and Londaar screams in terror. It's an uncomfortable, high-pitched shriek, not anything that came out of a sane man. It's easy to see why in a moment. His back ripples and his clothing bursts as a sheathe of bark wraps itself around him, tree limbs growing out of him at a speed that makes it look like a time-lapse photo. According to the timer on the video, it isn't sped up.]

Turned into fertilizer for your trees. Fuel for the fires of your greed. [There are no noises from Londaar now. The Spectre grabs him by the head, pulling him off of the ground. out of the ground. He'd put down roots.] I know a little something about fire. [Instantly, a bonfire erupts behind the Spectre, with eerie green flames licking out of it.

With a cruel laugh, the spirit throws what was once a man into the heart of the flames. They crackle violently, growing in size. Something's still moving as it burns.

The Spectre watches for a long moment before turning to look directly into the camera, a half-mile away. And, suddenly, he's looking into it from a few inches away. There's no motion, no smoke, no special effect. It's like a jump cut. He leans in to the lens, and, buried in the center of his pupils, are little skulls.]

Vengeance.

[He laughs again and green smoke envelopes the camera. The gyroscopic indicators spin wildly and everything turns into a blur until it comes to a direct halt, green mist fading around it. When it clears up, the only thing that can be seen is the tear-streaked face of a teenaged girl, looking like she desperately wants to be ill.]

[Now a message from a Coluan child who's just seen their parents, infamous for suggesting experiments to enhance brain development through specialized growth hormones shortly before the death of their first child, have their brains grow too large for their skulls and exit. Violently.]

[An official request from a security team. The Spectre took a backwater politician who rose on the promise that there weren't any strings on him and turned him into a marionette with his own circulatory system before hanging him off of a statue of Valor.]

[A report of a TV star, rumored to have been involved in the drowning death of a costar but exonerated because of a lack of proof, somehow drowning on land in her own living room.]
