THE IC ANON MEME RULES AND INFO ✦ Everything must be from an IC in-world perspective. The meme is specifically a Legion fandom meme. UP citizens, Legion World Staff, and Legionnaires all have access to the meme. While this meme is in the meme comm, it is real in the game universe and all the Legionnaires and the public can see it ICly. Rather than other ic anon memes where characters post starters to the meme, this meme operates like real world memes like rpanons. ✦ There are 3 ways to post. When posting as non-Legionnaires, do it anon. When posting as Legionnaires that unwisely comment unanon, just do it logged in. If posting as Legionnaires going anon, do it logged in, but mark "anon" in the subject, so we know it's anon, but can have a laugh over which Legionnaires are secretly stanning or shitposting. ✦ Not necessarily a rule, but keep in mind that attitudes in the UP are different than our world. Most people are referred to generally as "people" or "sentients" instead of species-specific terms like "humans." Most racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, and other "ist" attitudes are now uncommon among most species in the UP. Many sexual orientations exist, polyamory and polygamy are considered acceptable, and gender identity is very flexible. Species-based xenophobia tends to be the bigger social ill and even with that, many are against it. The species that are most disliked and distrusted are Durlans, Daxamites, and Roboticans. If you want to use them for fun, common UP cursewords are on the Legion Basics page. ✦ Beyond sticking to those basics, don't worry about getting anything "wrong." It's a meme and people tend to say stupid things on memes. You can even make up fake species and planets and details about them. The UP is huge and has lots of planets and species not mentioned in the game info. ✦ You can pretend to write things from the POV of Legion staff sharing the deets on the Legionnaires. However, they wouldn't share tactical info on the Legionnaires that could get them hurt in battle, only juicy gossip. Also, if someone is writing from the POV of Legion staff and writes something about your character that your character doesn't actually do, keep in mind that half the time people make shit up. It'll just be false gossip. ✦ Try to keep anything that can't be put behind a link sfw. While you can write someone sharing the start of their steamy slash fanfic, try to keep it limited to just part of it. Linking to fanart as if it was made in universe is a-okay, but just make sure to put it under a link and warn if it it's nsfw. Please check character ages before posting any nsfw stuff to make sure they're over 18. ✦ Feel free to get really crazy. Fandom gets crazy and fandom is no different in the glorious robot future. There are normal posters, shitposters, trolls, rpf ficcers, stans, slashers, all the same things our time has. There are macros and gifs and ongoing fake memes you can make up. There will be a few preposted topics but you can make up new ones or just have anons create new topics or troll. ✦ The meme is generally modless and has no thread-freezing. Fandom plays it dangerous in the future and the ic mod rarely intervenes, though anons sometimes try to get them to. Anon comments can be deleted by the real mods at the request of players (like say if they made a formatting mistake and want to repost) but there should be no need to delete anything beyond that since it's all IC. ✦ This anon meme is set shortly after the events of "No Sanity Clause" and "Silent Horizon." Thanks to news drones catching part of the Joker's declaration, and thanks to press conferences by the UP government, several things that happened during "No Sanity Clause" are now public knowledge: the threat of Chronoblivion and that the Legion and UP government kept it secret, that the Joker is in Legion custody and will not be released to Takron Galtos (the prison planet), and that Blue Rose is dead and will be having a funeral soon on Shanghalla. What isn't publicly known: that the Joker said Brainic 5 wasn't guilty of the original Legion disappearing and that Chronoblivion's forces were, and that the Spectre appeared as Blue Rose died and gruesomely killed her murderer, Firefly (though the Carggites that saw him may reveal this anon). As for Silent Horizon, it's publicly known: that the star drive test was a dismal failure and that much of the Silent Horizon crew died, and that the Legion saved the Robotican crew members. However, the full extent of what happened is not publicly known. (That said, people may post as anon Legion World staff spilling the beans on what happened during the mission.)

Systemic species-wide genetic modification. Over the millennia, the Coluan genepool has been modified to extend the average Coluan lifespan to approximately 600 Terran years.

As children, we mature at a similar rate to Earthlings (albeit with much faster neurobiological development), but after reaching adulthood, we age very slowly and stay in our physical prime for centuries. It lends itself to a very youthful appearance that we retain through most of our lives.

The complexities of Coluan physical and mental development aren't the easiest thing to explain. Our mental maturation rate makes them wildly different from most other species.

At age 2, I could speak in complex sentences and already understood the fundamentals of particle physics, yet lacked the capacity for basic emotional regulation or the motor coordination to properly feed myself. I wrote the first of my many theses when I was 3, when I could finally get my stubby baby hands to type properly so I didn't have to keep using time-consuming voice-to-text.

For Coluans, childhood is considered the most harrowing stage of our lives instead of the teen years that many other species lament as difficult. There's nothing more irritating than spending fourteen years of your life being treated like a child when you have the capacity to build a multi-phasic accelerator from toddlerhood onward.

It's more that we mature very quickly in the beginning and then everything slows down after our teen years.

In it, a bunch of Coluan children are presenting competing science projects in a science fair, except they're all maybe 6 years old and the projects aren't models of the planets or homemade volcanos. They're actual inventions that might be useful to Coluan science.]
