IC ANON MEME

THE IC ANON MEME

RULES AND INFO

Everything must be from an IC in-world perspective. The meme is specifically a Legion fandom meme. UP citizens, Legion World Staff, and Legionnaires all have access to the meme. While this meme is in the meme comm, it is real in the game universe and all the Legionnaires and the public can see it ICly. Rather than other ic anon memes where characters post starters to the meme, this meme operates like real world memes like rpanons.

There are 3 ways to post. When posting as non-Legionnaires, do it anon. When posting as Legionnaires that unwisely comment unanon, just do it logged in. If posting as Legionnaires going anon, do it logged in, but mark "anon" in the subject, so we know it's anon, but can have a laugh over which Legionnaires are secretly stanning or shitposting.

Not necessarily a rule, but keep in mind that attitudes in the UP are different than our world. Most people are referred to generally as "people" or "sentients" instead of species-specific terms like "humans." Most racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, and other "ist" attitudes are now uncommon among most species in the UP. Many sexual orientations exist, polyamory and polygamy are considered acceptable, and gender identity is very flexible. Species-based xenophobia tends to be the bigger social ill and even with that, many are against it. The species that are most disliked and distrusted are Durlans, Daxamites, and Roboticans. If you want to use them for fun, common UP cursewords are on the Legion Basics page.

Beyond sticking to those basics, don't worry about getting anything "wrong." It's a meme and people tend to say stupid things on memes. You can even make up fake species and planets and details about them. The UP is huge and has lots of planets and species not mentioned in the game info.

You can pretend to write things from the POV of Legion staff sharing the deets on the Legionnaires. However, they wouldn't share tactical info on the Legionnaires that could get them hurt in battle, only juicy gossip. Also, if someone is writing from the POV of Legion staff and writes something about your character that your character doesn't actually do, keep in mind that half the time people make shit up. It'll just be false gossip.

Try to keep anything that can't be put behind a link sfw. While you can write someone sharing the start of their steamy slash fanfic, try to keep it limited to just part of it. Linking to fanart as if it was made in universe is a-okay, but just make sure to put it under a link and warn if it it's nsfw. Please check character ages before posting any nsfw stuff to make sure they're over 18.

Feel free to get really crazy. Fandom gets crazy and fandom is no different in the glorious robot future. There are normal posters, shitposters, trolls, rpf ficcers, stans, slashers, all the same things our time has. There are macros and gifs and ongoing fake memes you can make up. There will be a few preposted topics but you can make up new ones or just have anons create new topics or troll.

The meme is generally modless and has no thread-freezing. Fandom plays it dangerous in the future and the ic mod rarely intervenes, though anons sometimes try to get them to. Anon comments can be deleted by the real mods at the request of players (like say if they made a formatting mistake and want to repost) but there should be no need to delete anything beyond that since it's all IC.

Anon -- Again, mostly.

With all due respect, anon...even if the original Legion had been here, you probably would have still lost people. People would have died on Naltor and in other disasters. Because the original Legion couldn't be everywhere at once, just like WE can't be everywhere at once.

I've looked over the information about the original Legion. They seem to be a great bunch of people and I'm sorry that we haven't gotten a chance to know them. But the one thing I can be confident in from what I know of them? They would be absolutely ashamed of all of you for taking the blame for this out on one person. One person who is their FRIEND, who is working as hard on getting them back as he is on making certain that we can get home. On making certain that the rest of the UP is protected at the same time.

Now. If I were him and came under this much ridicule and general nastiness on a regular basis? I'm not at all certain I could manage it. He could have walked away at any time. I probably would have, myself. God knows you guys would blame him no matter what his choice, but if he walked away he could at least ignore all of you. The fact that he hasn't shows he's a better person than any of you give him credit for. The fact that he keeps going day after day when this is out there waiting for him is proof that he's a better person than I am, certainly.

I am sorry for your loss. Truly I am. And I understand that, when things like that happen, when you lose people in something that should have been preventable, it's easy to look for a scapegoat, to find somebody you can point at and say that this wouldn't have happened if it hadn't been for this thing or this person. Having that person or thing to blame is easier than thinking that it might have happened anyway, no matter what other factors were in play. I get it. But I also feel that your anger, while understandable, is also unhelpful.

Sprock off, Legionnaire. Why are you even going anon when it's obvious you're one of the brainwashed displacees kissing his green behind?

It's not scapegoating when the person you're angry at is actually responsible for the hardship and pain they caused. And maybe I still would've lost family if the original Legion was here, since that's up to chance if no one has a vision that can change it, but even if I did, other Naltorians out there still would've lost less.

Okay, fine. We can absolutely do it this way.

I get the grief and the anger. Nobody is saying that you don't have a right to that. Like I said, it's understandable. It's more than understandable. Which is the reason that I'm going to leave off on the whole thing with Brainiac 5. If nothing else, he's an adult and more than capable of fighting his own fights, if that's what he wants to do.

However. What I will say is that, as much as you have a right to that anger? You don't have a right to be an asshole. And you especially don't have a right to be an asshole to somebody whose only crime is that they were seen in public with somebody that you are angry at. Because that's what you're doing. You're lashing out at somebody who is only connected to your grief by the faintest of threads.

I get your anger. I do and I feel for you. I am still sorry for your loss. Losing a parent is probably one of hardest feelings to ever have to deal with. But you can't take that feeling out on people who aren't involved. It's not fair to them and it's not fair to those you're grieving for, either, Ale-ha Ha-sholom.

[ Robbie is way, way too upset by what he interprets as "why Vance didn't defend me then" and also, with a little logic twisting, an implication that Robbie isn't an adult (because Vance defends him now). ]

I refuse to hang a teammate out to dry. The day I don't defend a teammate is the day after I die.
