RULES AND INFO

✦ Everything must be from an IC in-world perspective. The meme is specifically a Legion fandom meme. UP citizens, Legion World Staff, and Legionnaires all have access to the meme. While this meme is in the meme comm, it is real in the game universe and all the Legionnaires and the public can see it ICly. Rather than other ic anon memes where characters post starters to the meme, this meme operates like real world memes like rpanons.

✦ There are 3 ways to post. When posting as non-Legionnaires, do it anon. When posting as Legionnaires that ~~unwisely~~ comment unanon, just do it logged in. If posting as Legionnaires going anon, do it logged in, but mark "anon" in the subject, so we know it's anon, but can have a laugh over which Legionnaires are secretly stanning or shitposting.

✦ Not necessarily a rule, but keep in mind that attitudes in the UP are different than our world. Most people are referred to generally as "people" or "sentients" instead of species-specific terms like "humans." Most racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, and other "ist" attitudes are now uncommon among most species in the UP. Many sexual orientations exist, polyamory and polygamy are considered acceptable, and gender identity is very flexible. Species-based xenophobia tends to be the bigger social ill and even with that, many are against it. The species that are most disliked and distrusted are Durlans, Daxamites, and Roboticans. ✦ Beyond sticking to those basics, don't worry about getting anything "wrong." It's a meme and people tend to say stupid things on memes. You can even make up fake species and planets and details about them. The UP is huge and has lots of planets and species not mentioned in the game info.

✦ You can pretend to write things from the POV of Legion staff sharing the deets on the Legionnaires. However, they wouldn't share tactical info on the Legionnaires that could get them hurt in battle, only juicy gossip. Also, if someone is writing from the POV of Legion staff and writes something about your character that your character doesn't actually do, keep in mind that half the time people make shit up. It'll just be false gossip.

✦ Try to keep anything that can't be put behind a link sfw. While you can write someone sharing the start of their steamy slash fanfic, try to keep it limited to just part of it. Linking to fanart as if it was made in universe is a-okay, but just make sure to put it under a link and warn if it it's nsfw. Please check character ages before posting any nsfw stuff to make sure they're over 18.

✦ Feel free to get really crazy. Fandom gets crazy and fandom is no different in the glorious robot future. There are normal posters, shitposters, trolls, rpf ficcers, stans, slashers, all the same things our time has. There are macros and gifs and ongoing fake memes you can make up. There will be a few preposted topics but you can make up new ones or just have anons create new topics or troll.

✦ The meme is generally modless and has no thread-freezing. Fandom plays it dangerous in the future and the ic mod rarely intervenes, though anons sometimes try to get them to. Anon comments can be deleted by the real mods at the request of players (like say if they made a formatting mistake and want to repost) but there should be no need to delete anything beyond that since it's all IC.

okay so i'm headcanoning that all of the "new" states are people who replaced the originals when they quit/disappeared/died/whatever and there's all kinds of friction between them and the original freelancers. the fic i'm working on centers around one of them going on a mission with one of the established freelancers and trying to earn their place. firefights! arguments! hurt/comfort!

And also are you going to talk about any of the other old states? Because maybe Old York was the only one and New York was going by Amsterdam at the time (because I guess he went by Amsterdam for a while?) and then something happened to Old York and then New York just became York

So maybe York is really worried about New Jersey because he knows what it's like to be the one with the New name and he just wants to make sure New Jersey is okay and then you can fit a second ship and even more hurt/comfort in there if you want

I looked up the oldest state and tl;dr Earth politics is complicated, but: Delaware.

There we go. Deleware was the leader, probably the guy everyone looked up to until something went wrong on a mission and they got hurt, bad, getting everyone else to evacuate. Been in a coma ever since. Probably won't make it out, ever, but no one ever wants to be the one to let Delaware down, which is why it's been years and there's never been a New Delaware.

I bet they still have him listed as on active duty, not yet returned from his last mission.

What about his AI? I bet it was Alpha.

Do you think Alpha died? Or refused to take a new partner and just sits in Delaware's old armor, refusing maintenance as it slowly wears down at its partner's bedside? Or did Alpha take a new partner and, in moments of stress, still calls them Delaware now and then?

okay so california is the best agent and everyone is like "why do we always have to do what california says" and it's because she's the best.

but she's not just the best, she's secretly the daughter of the head scientist so she's his favorite. and she has to try extra hard because otherwise people will notice that she is the favorite. california never relaxes at all because she always has to be the very best.

Cancun: a big hulking beast of a man that's stone cold and stoic and unpaired with any AI, he's got scars on his face and grey green eyes and dark skin and this deep rumbly voice- and he's one of the tallest of the Freelancers and he swaps between hand to hand and sniping. He secretly has a hard time with people and MAYBE someone more talkative can make him open up.

Agent Colombia is a wiry pale human with one of those side cuts that just came back into style. He's really good with knives and will brag forever about it, and while he doesn't like listening to other people all that much, he'll do it if it'll help him out in some way or if he just really likes and respects the person. He doesn't have any AI either, but he's a lot more skilled than a lot of agents that do, so he'll brag about that too.

Maybe he's the perfect talkative person to open Cancun up, if you know what I mean

Agent Nevada is just a huge nasshead. He's got gold armor and gold eyes and he's secretly PK but doesn't like telling people - he just uses it to mess with people and make them miss shots and second guess themselves. Sometimes he likes to make people think their rooms are haunted, because there are a few Agents who are superstitious like that (Yukon, definitely, and sometimes Venezuela but she doesn't like to admit it). He wants to be the best Agent and gets mad when people do better than him even when he cheats.

I mean, he's not a great guy, but every group needs one, right? Feel free to use him to cause ~conflict~ in your stories. ;;)
