You -- you don't know what it's like being stuck in a situation like that. We were having those things thrown at us and being shot at and one wrong move meant getting blown up or shot with bullets or whatever.
Stuff was exploding and bullets were bouncing off everything and it was hard to even think during all the chaos. I was lucky I could even knock stuff back and hit anything at all while ducking around like that.

You think you have the right to judge but you're probably, like, sitting at home all safe and you have no idea what it's like to have to try to stay alive when horrible things are trying to kill you.
Just staying alive during that stuff is hard. And we didn't know if help was coming anytime soon so that those people could be arrested. Not killing them meant they were still alive to try and kill or hurt us.
Maybe you think getting through horribleness like that is so easy that you can just control things however you want super easily. But guess what? It's not.
