IC ANON MEME

THE IC ANON MEME

RULES AND INFO

Everything must be from an IC in-world perspective. The meme is specifically a Legion fandom meme. UP citizens, Legion World Staff, and Legionnaires all have access to the meme. While this meme is in the meme comm, it is real in the game universe and all the Legionnaires and the public can see it ICly. Rather than other ic anon memes where characters post starters to the meme, this meme operates like real world memes like rpanons.

There are 3 ways to post. When posting as non-Legionnaires, do it anon. When posting as Legionnaires that unwisely comment unanon, just do it logged in. If posting as Legionnaires going anon, do it logged in, but mark "anon" in the subject, so we know it's anon, but can have a laugh over which Legionnaires are secretly stanning or shitposting.

Not necessarily a rule, but keep in mind that attitudes in the UP are different than our world. Most people are referred to generally as "people" or "sentients" instead of species-specific terms like "humans." Most racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, and other "ist" attitudes are now uncommon among most species in the UP. Many sexual orientations exist, polyamory and polygamy are considered acceptable, and gender identity is very flexible. Species-based xenophobia tends to be the bigger social ill and even with that, many are against it. The species that are most disliked and distrusted are Durlans, Daxamites, and Roboticans. If you want to use them for fun, common UP cursewords are on the Legion Basics page.

Beyond sticking to those basics, don't worry about getting anything "wrong." It's a meme and people tend to say stupid things on memes. You can even make up fake species and planets and details about them. The UP is huge and has lots of planets and species not mentioned in the game info.

You can pretend to write things from the POV of Legion staff sharing the deets on the Legionnaires. However, they wouldn't share tactical info on the Legionnaires that could get them hurt in battle, only juicy gossip. Also, if someone is writing from the POV of Legion staff and writes something about your character that your character doesn't actually do, keep in mind that half the time people make shit up. It'll just be false gossip.

Try to keep anything that can't be put behind a link sfw. While you can write someone sharing the start of their steamy slash fanfic, try to keep it limited to just part of it. Linking to fanart as if it was made in universe is a-okay, but just make sure to put it under a link and warn if it it's nsfw. Please check character ages before posting any nsfw stuff to make sure they're over 18.

Feel free to get really crazy. Fandom gets crazy and fandom is no different in the glorious robot future. There are normal posters, shitposters, trolls, rpf ficcers, stans, slashers, all the same things our time has. There are macros and gifs and ongoing fake memes you can make up. There will be a few preposted topics but you can make up new ones or just have anons create new topics or troll.

The meme is generally modless and has no thread-freezing. Fandom plays it dangerous in the future and the ic mod rarely intervenes, though anons sometimes try to get them to. Anon comments can be deleted by the real mods at the request of players (like say if they made a formatting mistake and want to repost) but there should be no need to delete anything beyond that since it's all IC.

Enough; read, because print ads are a lot less eye-searing than a lot of video ads I've seen here; and I honestly have no idea. I'm pretty sure it started off as a joke, but I couldn't tell you why.

It's a series for teenagers back from the very late 20th-very early 21st centuries. I suppose I should have realized it would mostly be forgotten by this point.

[There's not going to be a reply to Robbie. Vance is just laughing too hard.]

The Galactic Sentinel, usually. Sometimes the Daily Planet. [Because being able to read the honest to God Daily Planet is still a minor source of glee for him. What a nerd.]

I'm open to suggestions. Actual news, though - none of this TMZ stuff everyone seems to like.

okay but he's a primitive

would I have to put him in a water shower? because ew.

(Anonymous) 2016-11-21 06:42 pm (UTC)(link)
The Galactic Sentinel's a good choice, though a bit sensationalist at times. Too much attention paid to crime and crises, not enough to other things.

The Clarion's a bit questionable, tend to leap to conclusions, but they usually get the right story out eventually. I like the Tri-Star Tribune, myself. The Crystal Comet's got a neat gimmick. They send out these crystal pads rather than the usual infonet deliveries, and the pads resonate whenever they get an updated story. Some sentients say that they can feel the stories as they come in, but I've got a Double 0 Psi rating, so I don't know anything about that.

Why do you like the Tribune?

[The Crystal Comet sounds both really cool and incredibly suspicious, so of course Wash acts on the latter instinct.] I assume the crystal pads are connected to some sort of network - how secure is it? Have there ever been issues with the pads? [He's not bringing a security risk to Legion World, let alone his room, okay.]

(Anonymous) 2016-11-21 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Humans like them bigger. It's more pleasurable.

(Anonymous) 2016-11-21 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
It has the best coupons.

There's some kind of crystal network. I don't know how it works, subspace aether vibrations or something like that. I've only ever heard of it being one way. They're free to get, but expensive to replace and if yours gets damaged or scratched it apparently starts bleeding really unsettling feelings.
sir_vancelot: (OU - Umm)

[personal profile] sir_vancelot 2016-11-21 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Well. I mean, it's not THAT much weirder than some of the various Avengers fic I stumbled on back home. Of course, I wasn't generally IN those. And nobody asked me about them.
unrecovered: (Let me think about that one)

[personal profile] unrecovered 2016-11-21 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
That's...not really a sparkling endorsement. For either of them.

...Fair point, and I do usually have a thing for people that can snap me like a twig, especially if they're hypercompetent- but that'd be like. I dunno. I don't think I'm his type.

...the hell kinda shit was going on in that canyon?

(Anonymous) 2016-11-21 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
it ended up being way more than that but i don't remember how many. they had rules about how to admit new states and they would argue about which ones got to join. sometimes they had wars about it.

(Anonymous) 2016-11-21 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I know sprock-all about ancient Earth history but I can use Google.

York wasn't even part of the United States! It was on an entirely different continent!

You're already making friends, now that's the Wash I remember.

[ God, where's maine when you need him? ]

Or, I dunno, get a better security system. Gimme a week to catch up on some of the hardware and I can make some recommendations.

you had a team called avengers

that strikes me as kinda

confrontational

(Anonymous) 2016-11-21 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
His team is the New Warriors. They're okay with confrontational.
goddamngrenades: (and we shot)

More like one Massive Dakota. The only one taller than North was, shit, Maine, who's only a few heads shorter than Chief. South wasn't that small either.
