IC ANON MEME

THE IC ANON MEME

RULES AND INFO

Everything must be from an IC in-world perspective. The meme is specifically a Legion fandom meme. UP citizens, Legion World Staff, and Legionnaires all have access to the meme. While this meme is in the meme comm, it is real in the game universe and all the Legionnaires and the public can see it ICly. Rather than other ic anon memes where characters post starters to the meme, this meme operates like real world memes like rpanons.

There are 3 ways to post. When posting as non-Legionnaires, do it anon. When posting as Legionnaires that unwisely comment unanon, just do it logged in. If posting as Legionnaires going anon, do it logged in, but mark "anon" in the subject, so we know it's anon, but can have a laugh over which Legionnaires are secretly stanning or shitposting.

Not necessarily a rule, but keep in mind that attitudes in the UP are different than our world. Most people are referred to generally as "people" or "sentients" instead of species-specific terms like "humans." Most racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, and other "ist" attitudes are now uncommon among most species in the UP. Many sexual orientations exist, polyamory and polygamy are considered acceptable, and gender identity is very flexible. Species-based xenophobia tends to be the bigger social ill and even with that, many are against it. The species that are most disliked and distrusted are Durlans, Daxamites, and Roboticans. If you want to use them for fun, common UP cursewords are on the Legion Basics page.

Beyond sticking to those basics, don't worry about getting anything "wrong." It's a meme and people tend to say stupid things on memes. You can even make up fake species and planets and details about them. The UP is huge and has lots of planets and species not mentioned in the game info.

You can pretend to write things from the POV of Legion staff sharing the deets on the Legionnaires. However, they wouldn't share tactical info on the Legionnaires that could get them hurt in battle, only juicy gossip. Also, if someone is writing from the POV of Legion staff and writes something about your character that your character doesn't actually do, keep in mind that half the time people make shit up. It'll just be false gossip.

Try to keep anything that can't be put behind a link sfw. While you can write someone sharing the start of their steamy slash fanfic, try to keep it limited to just part of it. Linking to fanart as if it was made in universe is a-okay, but just make sure to put it under a link and warn if it it's nsfw. Please check character ages before posting any nsfw stuff to make sure they're over 18.

Feel free to get really crazy. Fandom gets crazy and fandom is no different in the glorious robot future. There are normal posters, shitposters, trolls, rpf ficcers, stans, slashers, all the same things our time has. There are macros and gifs and ongoing fake memes you can make up. There will be a few preposted topics but you can make up new ones or just have anons create new topics or troll.

The meme is generally modless and has no thread-freezing. Fandom plays it dangerous in the future and the ic mod rarely intervenes, though anons sometimes try to get them to. Anon comments can be deleted by the real mods at the request of players (like say if they made a formatting mistake and want to repost) but there should be no need to delete anything beyond that since it's all IC.

have you met him? are you a staffer? spill!

(Anonymous) 2016-11-21 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
i got a blurry snap of him last time i saw him, but it's hard to catch him- sometimes he's there and then he's just gone, right?

No, actually, they fucking don't. Some people were involved in classified programs in their dimensions, and that information needs to stay classified. The press' curiosity doesn't override that.

And some people probably don't want to talk about things that have happened to them, especially with the way the press tends to twist things for a "good story."

So no, you do not have a right to know, and we have every right to refuse.

I don't know about that. I just kind of figured that he got swallowed up in the crowd.

Holy shazbot, anon, I'm from Gotham and I could've sworn I saw that guy, too. He really stood out. It wasn't anything he said or did. It was just some weird instinct. Like the kind you have when you're at a zoo and you really solidly realize the only thing between you and being some snarfle-beast's dinner is a force wall.

Want to know something extra creepy? The day after I saw him hanging around my part of the city, there was apparently a murder a few apartments down. My sister's in the GCSPD and she told me about it since I was curious because it happened near where I live.

Guy was burned alive. But get this: nothing else in the apartment was burned. Very weird. What's even creepier is the Scicops found evidence in the guy's place that proved he'd had burned down a retirement home for the insurance -- with the tenants still inside.

[Link to article about nursing home fire.]

So the murderous arsonist burns alive. Ironic, right? She said they're thinking someone found out and that it's a revenge killing. Although given Gotham's history, it wouldn't be that out there for it to be some kind of vigilante killing or something.

I wonder if the creepy green guy had something to do with it.

he's a product of where and when he came from- and this was an extreme situation, right?

Whoops, mixed up my threads. Yeah, the Flash is at least polite. Doubletime's a slob and leaves a mess for us to clean up every time.

Yep, it's me.

I don't know why you think I'd be mad. Anyway, I see you have a FriendFund account, I assume that's how you prefer to obtain payment.

that's a thing? Ok that's a thing. weird.

No that's not what i'm saying but- ruthless, yes. comparatively speaking it was quick and clean. still don't think he'd bust it out often unless under extreme duress, which is what that was.

[Look who's taking his cue from Dipper and holding up a sign with the date on it. And a doodle of a kitten. He might as well try to humanize himself.]

I figure there might be some questions after that news report, so why not. I will say that a lot of what I did in my home dimension was classified, and I can't break that. Barring that, ask away.

There's been a ton of bizarre nass with this crowd. Most recently, my coworker said Justin Time started actually crying when she gave him apple juice on his first day here.

Do any other sentients out there wonder if maybe we're focusing on the wrong things? That maybe we're obsessing about the lives of the Legionnaires because we find our own lives unfulfilling and take refuge in fantasy that isn't even close to reality? That maybe we're being shallow in focusing on image and treating their lives like stories, when they're three-dimensional, complex people with flaws and strengths like any other sentient, risking their lives to protect us, even if sometimes they do it imperfectly?

That maybe, just maybe, the things we focus on aren't important and maybe instead of treating it all like a game, we should be doing things that matter? Taking risks like renouncing our UP citizenship to join the team and help, or doing charity work, or joining the Scicops to do something that helps make the galaxy better like the Legionnaires do?

Does anyone else feel that way?

(Anonymous) 2016-11-21 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
Nah.

It's a big cat, also known as a mountain lion or a cougar.

I've got one for you: who's Sam Hill?
